DLX ATX

dlx

A unique sound to have emerged in defence of the local Reykjavik music scene over the last couple of years. “Deluxe Attacks” is kind of Drum & Bass but not really.
In that the Drums are played live like a run-away train with a mad wolf at the controls & the Bass is a disease-encrusted Ocean falling through Time.
So it doesn’t really sound like Goldie at all…

But, more usefully: The DLX ATX sound has evolved around a chain of analogue effects, mostly echo and octave through which Vocals and Bass are “played” simultaneuously.
The Bass is played as if it were a keyboard, with both hands on the neck two allow for twin sets of riffs: the sound is then cloned an Octave lower and send through a simple echo unit: and you get an awesome filth to roll around in. Part Disco part Battlefield but tremendously engaging…
Vocals are “played” throught the same effects chain to create a oddly delirious sense of depth to the sound. A genuinely sincere and refreshing voyage into new territory: maybe either Enya meets Lightning Bolt, or !!! meets Sun O)))… either way: tender, epic, brutal… try it!
