Króna

krona

What does pure Icelandic rock sound like? That is a question rock trio Króna are exploring. Singing in Icelandic and using influences from early Icelandic rock music to try and find a sound that is specifically Icelandic. You may not understand a word they are singing about but at least the music doesn´t sound exacly like everything else out there.

The members are all involved in other projects as well. Biggi is also a member of well established rock band Maus, Jón Valur is the drummer in Who Knew and makes music on his own as alter-ego Bubble Boy and Hjalti is the prodigal bass player from the rising stars in post rock outfit Miri.

The name Króna is after the Icelandic currency, since the band was formed only a few days before the icelandic banks collapsed. Its also a name that symbolises the bands intentions to sound as Icelandic as possible. And if Iceland joins the European Union and we change our currency to Euro it will be a name that will be a nostalgic symbol of Old Iceland.

Króna released they´re first single on the 17th of June (Icelandic Independence day) and are about to release they´re second single. The first album might see the light of day early next year.
