Nögl is a four piece rock band from the small town of Grundarfjörður.
The band was formed in 2002 and plays alternative rock. A lot changed for the band in 2008 but that is when the public finally took notice. The first radio single “I Promise” was Nögl´s introduction to the world of mainstream rock and it was well received by the listeners of rock radio station Xið977. The song got a place on the stations Top 20 chart and laid the groundwork for the second single “My World”. The words “I can be your baseball bat in a fight” got stuck in the heads of listeners and by the end of the year the second single was at fifth place of Xið977´s top 20 chart. The song would be on the top 20 chart for 16 weeks. The song “Don´t Leave” is now in heavy rotation on the channel and has been noted as being likely to succeed.
2009 started off great for Nögl as it landed on two lists that were published in Iceland´s two biggest newspapers. The lists were called “The hottest bands of 2009” and “Hopeful stars 2009”, and were compiled by heavyweights in the Icelandic music industry. This year has been a hard working year for the band as it had toured vigorously to promote their debut album “I Proudly Present” which was released on the 21. August. Nögl in conjunction with Kraumur music fund were behind the two nationwide rock tours called “The Rock Invasion” but the band ended the summer with a tour in Florida which recently came to an end.
