The State, The Market and The DJ, based in Copenhagen, spent the latter part of ‘08 creating a name for themselves on the Danish music scene – and with great success. Music-critics and audiences have shown great interest in the band, through positively written reviews and big turn-ups to the band’s shows. Furthermore, the band has played festivals such as Roskilde Festival and SPOT Festival, and their debut-album is considered by many to be a dear album. SMDJ’s sound has been described as minimalistic, fragile but also very elaborate. The carefully arranged songs are intensely played, enfolded by complex choir-arrangements and some cliffhanging noisy improvisations.
